Bibliography

[Trust me, I'm painfully aware that the following falls spectacularly short of the standards required for a proper scholarly bibliography: no isbn numbers, no notation of second and third printings, the premeditated absence of stuff even I'm too ashamed to list, etc. It does, on the other hand, have pretty pictures to accompany the dry listings of editions and appearances, and we all know that that's what counts. What'd really be great, in fact, would be if some genius could print up all the jpegs as bubble-gum cards so I could carry my 'bibliography' round in my pocket like an old pack of Mars Attacks ... ]

  1. Champion bibliography of champion work. I just want to say that I'm a huge fan of you and your work, if it hadn't been for you and Clive Barker, I never would have been inspired by the realm of fantasy and become a writer myself. I owe my published books to you and Clive, especially my first ever novel and my latest book coming soon which are both horrors and definitely homages to the dark, nightmarish and graphic horror masterpieces that you and Clive write :)

Also, keep up the amazing work, I look forward to seeing and reading more outlandish and awesome stories, the stuff that dark dreamers are made of.

On a side note, with the resurgence of the Djinn in the movies in recent years, such as the Tope Hooper movie "Djinn" and the Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad film "Jinn", I was wondering if perhaps it's time for the first Djinn who made his famous appearance in cinemas back in 1997 and had several sequels from 1999 to 2002 to make a grand comeback. Many have been asking about it and it would cool to see a Wishmaster 5. I was wondering, how could the sequel be made, do you own the rights or do you know how they could be available? It would be great to see a possible sequel where the Djinn finally inherit the earth and turn it into a blazing inferno where mankind is at the mercy to their cruel empire, used for the sadistic entertainment of the Djinn and his brethren. All hope seems to be lost, but unknown to the Djinn, a descendant of the great alchemist must uncover the powers hidden in his bloodline to devise a way to banish the Djinn back to their world and this time keep them there forever. Learning of the impending threat, the Djinn tries to thwart the young wizard on his dangerous quest across much treachery and temptation to the fiery kingdom and in an epic final confrontation between good and evil, singe the fires and save the souls of humanity. It's a rough concept at the moment which needs fleshing out, it would be a great treat for the fans to finally see the prophecy fulfilled and the iconic Djinn return for one last grand finale in a twisted, horrific and thrilling fantasy. It would be an honour to hear your thoughts on the idea for a possible Wishmaster 5, it would mean a lot.

    Best Regards

    1. Hi Phil,

Thanks for your kind words, sir, and very best wishes for much success with your own stuff.

As to your Epic Dark Fantasy take on Wishmaster 5, I like it a lot! Unfortunately, as you correctly guessed might be the case, I have no control (nor ownership) of the movie franchise so you'd have to pitch it to whatever corporate entity inherited the rights after Live/Artisan went the way of all flesh. Or just change a few names and background details and write it yourself as an original novel! After all, nobody owns the 'rights' to the *idea* of the Djinn. Except They Who Walk Between the Worlds, of course ... ;-)

      Cheers,

      Pete

    2. Hi Pete

You're welcome sir, and many thanks for your kind wishes, I am truly honoured and over the moon, it really means a lot :)

My apologises for the late reply, been so engrossed in writing my book, when I start one, I'm always compelled to complete it, now I have, I think this calls for a little rest until the next one, lol.

Glad you like the idea for Wishmaster 5, that's made my day :D

It's a shame to hear you have no control or ownership of the Wishmaster series. Indeed, the rights of a franchise can be a tricky thing to obtain, especially when the company that holds it is no longer apart of this realm. I could have a hunt around for who could own it but that is bound to be a very tricky task. Better yet, like you said, change the names and certain details, making it it's own Djinn related story which is very cool and I like a lot, a homage in spirit to your 1997 cult classic and a new tale in the Djinn legend. Absolutely, nobody owns the mythology, the idea and the name of the Djinn, except indeed, the devious twisters of human desires, those wishmasters themselves :)

      Best Regards

      Phil
